In this story, there are no carnal desires being satisfied in a clandestine fashion. Actually, the only connection that this post has with the film Brokeback Mountain is that it's about two guys and spectacular scenery. It all started with my buddy Danish Mike who, as you can imagine, is Danish. Anyways, he was getting married in Denmark. He graciously invited me; I accepted with pleasure. His wife was so impressed with the fact that I was coming from so far to be at the wedding that she suggested he and I go on a road trip upon my arrival. You know you're marrying the right woman when...
It was decided that we would embark on a Scandinavian road trip. Yeah! Like many people, I'm a sucker for a road trip. The fact we were going through fjord country was an immeasurable bonus in my eyes as I’d been yearning to see that part of the world for too long.
Have you ever had really high expectations, only to have them crushed like a ripe grape underneath steel-capped boots? I know you have. I also know that you understand the emptiness and violated naïveté that follows, not to mention the self-loathing. I had high expectations, and I'm not easily impressed.

Proof that I'm not easily impressed
But it wasn’t the case. I merely wanted to contrast such a feeling with the impeccable beauty that is really high expectations blown away by reality being even more awesome than your dreams.

View from the top
We drove a lot, on average about 8 hours a day. It felt like 2. The beauty was so enthralling that time almost became irrelevant.

The tops are relatively flat
I’ve included some pictures Danish Mike took, but remember that they are just pictures and that there was far more out there than what I'm presenting. I cannot wait to return there and hike through in order to really get a chance to bite into it.

Stave church in its natural habitat
My needs were pretty simple during the road trip; after all, we were riding a steel chariot. Nonetheless, if you do the same, you'll be tempted by the many stops to take a walk around. So pack some good shoes, such as Lowa's Renegade to avoid any fjordian slips!

I’m a tough customer with high standards. If it doesn’t bring a tear to my eyes, it ain’t good enough. ;)
