The warm weather has hit us and unfortunately you no longer have an excuse not to take your bike out. To rekindle that love we know everyone secretly has for their bike(s), Altitude-sports.com and Dumoulin Bicyclettes are joining forces to get people out on a nice, easy ride around Montreal on the 21st of May. At the end of the ride we will be serving hors d'oeuvres, some wine, and delicious discounts.
The two-wheeled escapade will be approximately one and a half hours, and will begin at Dumoulin Bicylcettes (173 Jean-Talon East) on Tuesday May 21st at 6pm. After a little snack to energize the group (and some deals in-store), we will get you out on your bikes, discovering the small, quaint streets of Rosemont, the Plateau Mont-Royal, and the bike paths nearby. It all ends at Altitude-sports.com (4140 St-Denis st) for munchies, drinks and more discounts.

We love the outdoors, but like many of you no doubt live in a large metropolis. There are a whole lot of people, and with people comes garbage. Look out your window right now and no matter where you are I can guarantee you will see litter on the ground. Why not change that?
Montreal has been doing a great job of pushing people, communities and businesses to spend some time doing something about the problem of litter. The 3rd, 4th and 5th of May are designated as days where you can sign up and join people in your community who wish to give a little clean to our wonderful city. If you happen to be a French linguist, have a read.

Altitude-sports.com is very pleased to announce the launch of a video by our friend, and dynamic director, Julien Robert. The project, in collaboration with us here at Altitude-sports.com, has been on our minds, ever since the brilliant company Light & Motion inspired us this past summer. Perfect timing for this video, as the warmth of spring is just around the corner.

My lips have been trembling for months now trying to keep in my dirty secret. No, not that Lance Armstrong was actually a half man-half goat cyborg who needed EPO so as not to overheat in the mountain stages- everyone knows that. I've got the mouth itchies because an outdoor brand is going to be releasing products long awaited by die hard fans (*ahem* not the movie series) next Fall.

We have been carrying Smartwool socks for years now, but we think it is now time to introduce you to their line of clothing. Yes, we said clothing. Smartwool was founded in 1994 by two ski instructors constantly unhappy with their socks while on the slopes in Colorado. A solution was switching to a new (and by new perhaps I mean old) fabric: wool. But not that itchy ordinary wool, merino wool.

If you know high fashion then you know Moncler. A company rich in history, Moncler was started 60 years ago near the ski slopes of Grenoble in France, but more specifically Monestier-de-Clermont, where they get their name. Now based out of Milan, Moncler has one thing in mind when designing and that is fashion.

We know a good deal when we see one. And our friends over at The Last Hunt know how to make deals on outdoor gear and apparel. I'll cut to the chase (get it?): they are using Valentine's Day as an excuse to give you even more discounts on their products. But honestly, who cares about the reason, all we want are discounts right? And don't forget to get these products quickly because once they are in season the sales may wither up in the summer sun...
Until midnight February 13th, 2013 buy any single item that is over $50 (after any other discount) and get and additional 15% off. The smart thing to do would be to buy 2 or more items over $50 (after discount) and receive an additional 20% off the items.

Don't you just love when things you don't like or need are on sale? Wow, I can get that wooden rooster which looks like Elton John at 10% off if I buy those pink place mats?! Yeah, me neither.
Let's make it simple for you.
Until Friday February 8th, 2013 if you buy two or more products from us that are in-stock and over $75 you will receive 20% on them. All you have to do is use code: BMSM20 when you place your order. Any questions?
But the stuff I want is already on sale? So do it anyways, and we will add the 20% over top of the sale.

We are back from the Winter Outdoor Retailer in Salt Lake City and we are excited. After a few days at the show we are bursting with enthusiasm for what is to come next winter. I can't let all the secrets out of the bag or I fear men in black may show up at my rusty door and take me away, but I'll do my best.
As I outlined in my previous article, there are many new technologies coming our way that should make you salivate. New insulation, waterproof down jackets, avalanche inflatable bags, etc. If you want to see what's coming or just want to watch the world burn...with color, check out these photos I got at the show.

In a few (incredibly painful) hours we will be off to the Outdoor Retail Show in Salt Lake City. If you are unfamiliar with OR, all you need to know is that it is the gear and apparel Mecca for retailers such as Altitude-sports.com. It is three days of walking endless alleys and corridors in a HUGE building filled with the best (and some not so 'best') outdoor brands around. Needless to say I am a kid in a candy store. You can taste new energy bars made out of recycled car batteries, try on t-shirts made out of moss found from the North Pole, and even have a chalk bag with your mom's face on it made in front of you- it also has cool things...
Why this should be exciting for you is that we can share some of the new products slated for next fall/winter from your favorite brands. Gear freaks like us think of OR as a second Christmas. Technology is not stagnant in the outdoor industry with changes occurring every season; OR is where we get to see what is coming, and proceed to get you excited for the following season(s).
So what's coming out, I hear you asking impatiently?

Think it. See it. Do it. That is the philosophy behind GoPro, a company we are confident you have heard about around recently. For a few years these guys have been changing the way we look at the outdoors- literally. GoPro manufactures cameras for anyone who has something to share. And that is everyone.

For hundreds of years mukluks and moccasins have been made in this cold country, but never before on such on grand scale. The owners, two Métis siblings, have been trading in the industry for years, it was not until 1997 that they founded and began producing Manitobah Mukluks.

Everyone has heard of Burton as a snowboard company no doubt. Basically in 1977 this cool kid from Vermont, Jake, decided to take a narrow piece of wood with a sharp tip, throw a foot strap and cord on the front and in the process revolutionized the world of snow sports- simple as that. Since that eventful day Burton has been growing unhindered, and eventually expanded from snowboards into the world of apparel. But there's more...

The world may be ending tomorrow. First, that really sucks. Second, maybe you should prepare yourself? What I mean is perhaps the world will not blow up, but merely stop working, or worse Zombies will rise from the ground (I say 'worse,' but honestly I would kind of like to battle some undead- seems therapeutic and fun like lazer tag . I picture somewhat of a The Road scenario with people wandering dark cities, and possibility hunting things that should not be hunted- no, I'm not talking about kittens. Here are some products you might want in your household or on your person starting tomorrow.

Boxing Day has been around for years and is a great idea, but by then all the good sizes and colours are gone, and you have to battle (sometimes physically) to get what you want. We thought why not have all the benefits of Boxing Day, but without actually leaving your home.
We call it Pre-Boxing Day (Proxing Day doesn't sound so good).
Starting December 20th we will be sharing our holiday spirit with you and dropping prices like it's hot. We are not putting up random junk on sale, but serious goodies. Most importantly we will be discounting 50 bestsellers from 25% to 50% off. 25 bestseller models for men and 25 bestseller models for women.

The holidays are around the corner, and that means one thing: you need to start collecting gifts for friends and family. That can be time consuming and problematic during the busy month of December. Furthermore, ordering stuff for the holidays isn't always easy. People grow, tastes differ and people just plain don't like things. If that is the case usually you are confronted with the 'pleasure' of having to return it to us at your own cost.
To make things easy for you this holiday season we are offering you a small gift.
