Each year outdoor enthusiasts who chase their passion through sports, writing and filming, come together with fellow outdoor enthusiasts to produce inspiring and impressive films for the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival. The films range from short films of only a few minutes to longer films of twenty minutes or more and showcase mountain sports and the ever-tempting outdoor lifestyle.
From single sport films to multi sport montages and unforgettable expeditions, each film will have a different impact on you and open your mind and heart to new ways of appreciating the mountains, the forests, the oceans and everything else that draws us in and feeds our passion for the outdoors.
The Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival tours across Canada, the United States and other places in the world so outdoor enthusiasts around the globe can experience the uplifting films. There are thirty films in total on the world tour this year, although different films will be shown on different nights and in different locations. This makes it so that everyone gets something a little different while all equally as inspiring.
I had the chance to check out the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival earlier last week in Montreal with some friends and it was great. We got to see ten films which ranged from mountain biking, skiing and snowboarding to rock climbing, sailing, surfing and even an older gentleman who set out on a 60-day desert journey with his dog for his 60th birthday. The films included journeys across the sea and desert, personal defeats leading to accomplishments and all around feel-good films that make you smile no matter how hard you try not to.
The tour within Canada continues until November 5 and stops off at multiple cities in each province and territory. For a sneak peek of the films on tour this year, check out the world tour films here.
