Canada Goose, Winter. Which Canada Goose Fit Is Best For You

Size & Fit

We often get asked “Which size should I get for my Canada Goose parka?” It’s a great question and it depends on a few factors. Beyond your personal preference, you have to consider your body shape. There’s also a difference between size and fit. While sizes are mostly standard, fit can play a big difference. Most brands will go with a standard fit that uses average measurements as a reference point. Canada Goose understands that this can be limiting and introduced additional fits to cater to those who have trouble with standard fits, or simply want a more custom feel.

Canada Goose designs their parkas with three different fits: slim, regular and relaxed. They’ve also introduced a special fit for those who don’t fit into standard sizing, called the Fusion Fit.  Once you’ve had a look at our sizing chart you can then decide what kind of fit you’re looking for.

Slim Fit

You’ll find that these are tighter than the average fit you’re used to wearing. If you like a fit that’s very close to the body, with a slimmer silhouette, the slim fit is a good choice. The slim fit isn’t ideal for layering because it’s so close to the body, however, most Canada Goose parkas are made warm enough that you don’t have to add additional layers. Since the fit is already slim, if you’re debating between two sizes, you should consider the larger of the two.

Regular Fit

The regular fit follows the standard sizing model very closely and will fit similar, if not slightly looser than most parkas. In this case your normal size should fit just right. Those who want it close to the body should be careful because ordering a size too small will mean shorter sleeves. These are designed so that layering is an option if you want to wear a sweater underneath your jacket. Whether this is required will depend on the parka, and how cold it is outside. For this, we would recommend checking out Canada Goose’s Thermal Experience Index to see if the jacket you choose can hold up to the cold with or without layers.

Relaxed Fit

The relaxed fit are very loose. Perhaps the loosest you’ll ever wear in the corresponding size. This extra room has a function. In the coldest environments, on the coldest days, you’ll want to be able to add some layers. The looseness allows just that; it means you can easily add a good 10°C – 15°C to your jacket. Despite the looseness, the jacket is still made for the body indicated in the sizing chart. If you are debating between two sizes, feel free to order the smaller one. If you are looking to downsize more than one size, you should consider trying another fit or model.

  1. I’m considering purchasing the Lorette parka (women’s) but wasn’t sure of the correct size to order. Is this parka regular or slim fit? . I’m 5’ 6” and weigh 120 pounds. Waist is 27”, hips 36” and bust 34”. What do you think? Thanks for the help!

    1. Hi Jeanne,

I’d consider doing 1 of 2 things. The first is finding the colour you’d like. The second is ordering 2 sizes from us and returning the one that doesn’t fit.

Going by the measurements you’ve provided and the fact the Lorette fits ‘slim’, we think you’re probably a small.

  2. I’m a woman, 5’9”, 155lb, and want a Canada goose style that comes down over my butt, mid thigh, and comfortable fit – not tight, not loose. Doesn’t need to be a current / 2018 or 2019 style as I’m shopping on eBay and want COMFORT and WARMTH first. Help please. Thx.

  3. I’m a short-ish guy at 5ft 5 / 6 with broad shoulders and athletic build with a chest size of around 41″/42″ which is a tricky body type to accommodate for. Really loving the look of the CHATEAU PARKA but not sure whether or not to opt for fusion fit or not. The sizing guide is also a little difficult to make a selection from. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    1. Hello Jay, if you have broader shoulders, I would suggest the regular as the Fusion Fit may be too restricting. If ever in doubt, we suggest ordering both and returning whichever doesn’t fit as we have hassle-free, easy returns.

  4. Hi , l am 5 ft 1in and my measurement is 32-27-34. I don’t like fusion fit. The sleeves are made too short for my arms. i like the rossclair style but don’t know which size should l get, x small or small?

    Thanks,
    Shirley

    1. Hello Shirley, the XS will certainly fit fine for the chest and hip as you are on the lower end of the size although you may find the waist to be slightly tight. I would suggest ordering both and then returning whichever you choose not to keep. We offer hassle-free returns and if you are a member, we offer free shipping within Canada.

  5. I’m considering the Wyndham in either Small slim fit or Medium fusion fit. The Small normal fit is a little tight on my chest so I’m considering going up one size, but in fusion fit. I’ve read the sizing charts but they do not address length. Can anybody please help me understand the difference in sleeve length and center back length between the Small slim fit and Medium fusion?

  6. I am trying to decide between the Wyndham in slim (i.e. non-fusion) Small, and the Wydham in a fusion-fit Medium. Can anybody say how the sleeve length and center-back length between those two sizes compare? The sizing charts only address chest/waist/hip, not length. Thank you!!

    1. Hey Mike, if you scroll down the product description, the centre back lengths are listed. Both jackets will have a centre back length of 30″ / 76.2 cm although the Fusion fit will have a slightly shorter hemline.
