Glenmore Reservoir

A classic running spot in Calgary is none other than the Glenmore Reservoir. Located approximately 16 kilometers southwest from Calgary’s downtown area, Glenmore Reservoir offers a tranquil running environment and a few neat spots to check out along the way. Pass by the Glenmore Sailing Club, the Canoe Club and also the Rowing Club and if you’re lucky, you may get to cheer on a few rowers along the way. If you need a water refill or forgot to carry water along your run, Glenmore Landing is home to the Good Earth Café where you can get your hydrate on or grab a quick snack.

Bow and Elbow Rivers Pathways

If you live near downtown and don’t want to venture too far just to get in your routine run, the pathways located along the Bow and Elbow Rivers are an ideal spot for running. The mountain views on a clear day will have you forgetting that you’re near the city’s downtown core. There are multiple route options within the area and connecting bridges so you can mix up your routine and try a different loop each time.

Fish Creek Provincial Park

Located south of Calgary’s downtown core is Fish Creek Provincial Park which is the largest urban park within Canada. Only sixteen kilometers from downtown Calgary, you can find over 75 kilometers of trails both paved and not. Enjoy a run through the wooded trails and spot natural wildlife along the way. Whether you head west or east along the trails, you’ll finish your run with lungs full of clean, fresh air.

For those looking to work a little harder and turn up the incline a bit, Nose Hill is the perfect spot to add in some hills into your running routine. If you’ve got some new trail running shoes if you’ve itching to try out, Nose Hill is made up of a network of dirt trails both single track and double track so if you’ve brought along a running posse, you can run alongside one another chat about your weekend activities.
