While February was doing its own in Quebec, I flew one week to the country of adventure and beautiful weather: Costa Rica.

I was fortunate to have two cool pieces from The North Face to accompany me on this adventure. I went to the airport with the Ventrix L3 jacket on the back, lightweight insulator that I could easily roll and hide in my luggage after the flight. I also put on the Aphrodite Motion Pants that kept me warm all the way from my front door to our “casita” in Liberia, without being too warm once we landed.

Our review of this product
The pros are:

  • Nice cut
  • Fast drying
  • Practical deep pockets including a “secret” pocket with subtle zipper
  • More knee tissue for longer life
 The cons are:

  • A little too hot for a summer temperatures
  • The rear isn’t an overly flattering design

The Aphrodite Motion Pants have a nice fit that’s both snug and casual so that you can be exceptionally comfortable both on a plane ride or a hike in the mountains for hours. I even wore them for a yoga session as it was the only pair of pants in my suitcase and they were per-fect! The pockets are well arranged and deep enough to carry your cell phone without losing it every time you bend over. Special mention for the small secret pocket with zip that can hide passport, cards or other personal effects, to allow you quick-access without having the fear of being robbed by a pickpocket.

The tissue reinforcement at the knee is well integrated aesthetically and may finally allow me to have a pair of pants without holes in the knee after a few months of travel! The textured herringbone fabric is very appealing and has the benefit of drying fast which is an extremely practical advantage in a travel context. On the other hand, it is a thick fabric which was too hot in my opinion for the summer season and which would benefit from being a little more breathable. In addition, there is a bit too much fabric in the rear which can create a slightly unflattering silhouette from the backside.

Overall, these pants are a great addition to my travel go-tos. I will not hesitate to wear them in Montreal and in my next excursions abroad. Beautiful product to discover!
