Finding the perfect raincoat is not always an easy task but it also isn’t impossible. For those spending a lot of time commuting, you’ve most likely got at least one GORE-TEX® coat in your closet. This membrane is almost essential when it comes time to braving the elements, especially when Mother Nature is releasing her worst.
What is GORE-TEX®?
GORE-TEX® is an extremely porous membrane (9 billion pores per square inch, nothing less) and impressively waterproof. It is said to be “breathable” because it allows water vapor to escape without allowing the liquids to penetrate in the opposite direction. Particularly durable, this membrane is found in a host of technical clothing, including many models of waterproof coats.
Arc’teryx Beta AR Jacket
A versatile coat by design, the Arc’teryx Beta AR is particularly popular with outdoor enthusiasts. Designed to be worn year-round, but especially effective during your winter alpine activities, this waterproof shell will keep you warm and dry even in the face of the worst weather mixes. Made completely waterproof thanks to its breathable GORE-TEX® membrane, it is also reinforced with more robust fabrics on high friction areas (on the shoulders or elbows for example). Like all the clothes offered by the Canadian brand Arc’teryx, Beta AR is an ingeniously crafted product with impressive technical details.
Norrøna Trollveggen GORE-TEX® Pro
