Living in a city can be quite exciting. There are so many people around and so many things happening. For those interested in our environmental impact as urban denizens, the Écomusée du Fier Monde and the Urban Ecology Centre are currently holding the final, part of their 3 part exhibit entitled Habiter une Ville Durable (Living in a Sustainable City). The exhibit reflects upon three themes, transportation, housing and consumption. It looks at the choices we make within these themes, as individuals, as a collective and at the government level.

Part three of the exhibit revisits the previous two exhibits, the first one depicted the present in Montreal with regards to three themes, the second looked for tools we could use from here and abroad on how to improve sustainability, and now adds “Imagining the Possibility” for Montreal. It depicts ideas from Montrealers on what they would like the city to look like; these were collected during last summer’s exhibit-on-wheels that went around the city talking to citizens. It certainly offers a lot of food for thought and is located in the bright Écomusée, a phenomenal example of renovation and preservation of our built patrimony, the old Généreux pool.

Catch the exhibition from now until June 13th.
