Recently, I got to test it out as I walked up Mount Pevee in the Eastern Townships. It is right by my cottage, and has no marked trails to the top. I must say it was quite a scramble to the 600 meter view-point. The panorama was worth it though. I got a glimpse of Mount Orford, Owl’s Head, and Jay Peak, easy to recognise by the still snow-covered ski trails. The jacket was perfect with a small sweater underneath on this cool sunny day. You can see me with my hood on, as I enter the exposed area at the top of the mount. It was a wonderful 3-hour hike, with lots of spring flowers guiding my way.
If I had two words to describe this jacket, they would be: Light and Tough. This jacket is perfect for spring-summer weather, when you want a little more protection than a long sleeve shirt. It is wind resistant and surprisingly water resistant as well. After a walk through the rain, I was able to shake off the water droplets from my sleeves, just like a dog shaking them out from its fur. Thanks to the DWR (Durable Water Repellent).
The material: stretch-woven ripstop nylon-spandex, is not only tough, but stretchy. I won’t hesitate to bring it with me outdoors; it will be perfect for rock-climbing in the shade on chilly spring days. It will easily resist the hard surfaces, while allowing a nice freedom of motion. It also has an adjustable hood, and a drawcord around the hips that blocks gusts of wind. Finally, it has large pockets, perfect for granola bars, cell phones or cameras.
Enjoy the view!
