Have you ever found yourself sitting in front of a computer screen scratching your head over a product you are contemplating buying? Everything looks great, but no matter how many times you read the description and look at the picture you can't grasp the warmth of the model. Is that jacket filled with luscious down, or devoid of serious warmth? Insulated jackets can be made for Dubai winters or Canadian winters- ordering the former when you wanted to latter is no laughing matter. Why couldn't someone make some sort of scale that demonstrated the warmth of jackets?

Nous voici de retour du salon de plein air d’hiver de Salt Lake City et nous sommes oh combien excités! Après plusieurs jours de show, on bouillonnait déjà d’impatience à imaginer ce qui va s’en venir l’hiver prochain. Je ne peux pas encore déballer tous mes secrets au grand jour de peur que des hommes en noir frappent à ma porte et m’emmène avec eux, mais je vais quand même vous en dire un petit peu…
Comme je l’ai mentionné dans un article précédent, il y a de nombreuses nouvelles technologies qui frappent à nos portes et qui vont nous faire saliver. Nouvelles isolations, nouveaux duvets imperméables, sac gonflable en cas d’avalanches, etc. Si vous voulez voir ce qui s’en vient ou voir le monde brûler… de 1000 couleurs, alors jetez un œil à ces photos que j’ai prises lors du salon.

We are back from the Winter Outdoor Retailer in Salt Lake City and we are excited. After a few days at the show we are bursting with enthusiasm for what is to come next winter. I can't let all the secrets out of the bag or I fear men in black may show up at my rusty door and take me away, but I'll do my best.
As I outlined in my previous article, there are many new technologies coming our way that should make you salivate. New insulation, waterproof down jackets, avalanche inflatable bags, etc. If you want to see what's coming or just want to watch the world burn...with color, check out these photos I got at the show.

Canada Goose has been making extremely warm down jackets for years. Everyone knows about the Expedition Parka, the Resolute Parka, and the Snow Mantra Parka, as models that mean business when winter strikes. Serious jackets for serious climates. And climates are the exact reason they produced (and still do) models such as these; they were selling a lot of product to people in the North who work(ed) in frigid conditions. I don't mean cold, I mean cold.
However, Canada Goose realized most of us do not live or work in the Arctic Circle so they have been graciously bringing out new models for less extreme conditions. The Burnett jacket and Lodge hoody are two such models, that may in fact be much more practical for the likes of you and me.

Le nombre de manteaux en duvets sur le marché canadien devient presque aussi ridicule que ça. Il y a tellement de modèles sur le marché qu’il est presque plus facile de choisir de déménager à Phoenix que de se décider à en magasiner un. Pour rendre les choses encore plus compliquées, le pourcentage de nouveaux modèles introduits est assez bas, ce qui a pour conséquence que vous pourriez louper le tout dernier bijou. Nous ne voulons pas que ça vous arrive.
Nous aimerions prendre le temps de braquer nos projecteurs sur quelques uns de nos nouveaux modèles de la saison d’hiver 2012, modèles que nous avons découverts et appréciés pour diverses raisons. Looking back on all the articles we have written about bomber-style jackets I begin to notice a serious bias towards men's models. Year after year we sell out of the women's bomber-style jackets, yet the focus remains on men. Not on my watch. I am going to remedy this ASAP.
In this article I want to compare the Canada Goose Chilliwack, a classic in the bomber-style jacket market to the Nobis Audrina, a more recent addition. We will have a look at their similarities and a few differences as well. Come with me now on a journey through aviation history (but mostly about jackets, honestly).

Canada Goose Manteau Camp en duvet et à capuchon Femme
Je sais, je parle souvent de Canada Goose, mais on ne peut pas ignorer les super produits pour quelques raisons que ce soit. Avec Canada Goose, la question de la qualité ne peut absolument pas être remise en cause. Un duvet de haute qualité de 750 ainsi qu’une longueur qui vous arrive à mi-cuisse vous gardera au chaud et vous préservera des éléments. On doit aussi souligner fièrement que les produits Canada Goose sont « made in Canada » et faits à partir d’un savoir-faire exceptionnel.
Le manteau Camp de Canada Goose fait partie de la collection plus légère et donc il est conçu pour les jours d’hiver un peu plus doux. Il s’agit certainement d’un avantage pour quelqu’un qui ne veut pas porter un manteau géant (et souvent lourd). De plus, il faut noter que ces manteaux sont parfaits pour quelqu’un qui est tout le temps en mouvement. Enfin, le manteau Camp n’a pas de fourrure et donc peut être une option pour les connaisseurs qui n’en veulent pas.

Le Foxe Bomber de Canada Goose
Canada Goose a contribué à rendre le style de manteau bombardier à nouveau à la mode avec le modèle Chilliwack (vous pouvez lire un commentaire là-dessus dans un article précédent). Canada Goose ne s’est pas uniquement contenté de ça, Canada Goose a réussi à améliorer le modèle. Tout comme ses frères et sœurs, le Foxe Bomber est fabriqué au Canada avec un duvet d’oie blanche dont le facteur de gonflement est de 625, une quantité largement suffisante pour que vous sachiez que ce modèle est conçu pour vous gardez au chaud au cœur de l’hiver. La confection du modèle est robuste et cela se manifeste au travers du tissu solide utilisé ou au travers de la glissière YKK. La poche stylo sur la manche est toujours présente.
La différence principale entre le modèle Chilliwack et le modèle Foxe Bomber est le col en peau de mouton (et non le capuchon avec le col en fourrure comme on voit sur le Chilliwack). Le col en peau de mouton peut d’ailleurs être enlevé pour varier les styles. Une deuxième différence notable est la garniture en cuir que l’on trouve « cachée » à plusieurs endroits de la veste. On peut le trouver derrière le rabat intérieur à l’avant-centre, sur les rabats des poches, les bordures de poignets ainsi que sur la poche utilitaire. Tout cela rajoute un style très classe au modèle. Enfin, le rabat intérieur au centre utilise des boutons à la manière du style militaire pour fermer le manteau et non des boutons pressoir comme le Chilliwack.
Si vous voulez un des nouveaux venus similaires au Foxe mais avec une capuche, vous devriez sans hésitez jeter un œil au Borden Bomber de Canada Goose.

Une comparaison du Kensington de Canada Goose, le Merideth de Nobis et de l'Aramal de Napapijri.
Déjà novembre. Je dois donc me résigner et accepter que l’automne est bel et bien amorcé et même, qu’il tire à sa fin. On entend déjà la musique de Noël dans les épiceries, je range mes vêtements d’été, sort mes laines des boules à mites et je porte mes chaussettes en mérinos lorsque je déjeune, car déjà les planchers de l’appartement sont froids. Avant que la neige n’apparaisse sur le tableau des prévisions à long terme de MétéoMédia, peut-être que ce serait intelligent de commencer à magasiner un manteau d’hiver.

Le film Top Gun m’a appris deux choses : tout d’abord le film m’a prouvé que Kelly McGillis n’était pas juste un joli minois mais bien une vraie actrice et ensuite le film m’a montré que le style de manteau aviateur était de retour. Bien que Kelly semble avoir disparu du devant de la scène, le manteau aviateur lui est toujours aux avants postes. La preuve étant, que dans l’industrie du plein air, ce type de modèle est toujours aussi populaire et en constante croissance. Cet article va vous présenter trois modèles aviateurs et va vous aider dans le choix de votre modèle d’hiver (êtes-vous plutôt Maverick ou Iceman?).
Le modèle Chilliwack de Canada Goose est un modèle très populaire, mais pourquoi? Nobis a sorti récemment le modèle Cartel, est-ce qu’il peut vraiment faire de la concurrence à Canada Goose? The amount of down jackets 0n the Canadian market is as ridiculous as this (yes I just googled 'ridiculous'). There are so many models out there that it is easy to get flustered and just decide to move to Phoenix instead of shopping for one. To make matters worse the percentage of new models introduced each season is relatively small, thus sometimes you can end up missing a gem. We don't want anything going by the wayside.

The movie Top Gun did two things in my opinion: proved to us Kelly McGillis was not just a pretty face, and brought the bomber style jacket back. Although Kelly seems to have disappeared, the bomber jacket has never left the scene. Proof of this can be seen even in the outdoor industry where the bomber is not only in evidence, but an increasingly popular model. This article will look at three of the bomber jacket we carry to help you with this winter's important choice (are you Maverick or Iceman?) The Canada Goose Chilliwack is certainly a popular model, but why? Nobis recently came out with the Cartel- is it a worthy adversary? Finally, new to us this season, Napapijri does the Addy. L’hiver approche et vous commencez à zyeuter les manteaux isolés en vous demandant : lequel me gardera le plus au chaud tout en m’évitant le look « patate au four »? Ma chronique d’aujourd’hui vous éclaircira sur deux manteaux qui remplissent ces critères si importants : le Gotham par The North Face et le Chilliwack Parka de Canada Goose.
Ayant conseillé plusieurs clients d’Altitude-sports.com l’hiver passé, j’ai reçu beaucoup de questions visant à faire un choix entre ces deux modèles, au style et caractéristiques fort semblables. Les deux sont isolés avec du duvet, s’arrêtent aux hanches, sont truffés de poches, possèdent de la fourrure autour du capuchon, des manchons coupe-froid et arborent un look urbain. Les deux modèles se font en version homme et femme. Dernière petite note avant d’entrer dans le vif du sujet; le duvet est un isolant extrêmement efficace et bien qu’il existe d’autres options telles que le Primaloft, la laine polaire et autres isolants synthétiques, il demeure l’isolant préféré des québécois frileux.

"Which size should I get for my Canada Goose parka?" We often get asked what size Canada Goose is the right one. It's a great question and it depends on a few factors. Beyond your personal preference, there's your body size. We have made a sizing chart for your here. Those indicate measurements for your body. They don't take into account fit. Speaking of which, Canada Goose makes its jackets with three fit types: Slim, Regular and Relaxed. Below, you'll find a description of each style and a chart with the jackets organized by fit.
