Arc’teryx Alpha, Beta and Theta SL : What’s the Difference? In order to understand the differences between the Arc'teryx Alpha, Beta and Theta waterproof-breathable shells, let's examine them by category (see all Arc'teryx existing categories).

Let's start with the SL (Super Light) type, generally built with  Gore-Tex Paclite; much lighter and compressible than the Gore-Tex Pro Shell, these shells are, on the other hand, more fragile and less resistant to abrasion.

March 31, 2011The North Face Alkaline GTX XCR – La critique

March 30, 2011The North Face Alkaline GTX XCR – Reviewed

The North Face Alkaline GTX XCR ReviewedI didn’t want these shoes. I wanted the The North Face Singletracks, but I accidentally ordered the The North Face Alkaline GTX instead. I wanted the Singletracks because they are as light as shoes get and their soft uppers flatten easily, which make them ideal features for packing into a backpack, and light on your feet. But my "loss" is your gain. It has allowed me to be an impartial reviewer of the Alkaline.

March 15, 2011Arc’teryx Sabre Pant Reviewed

Arcteryx Sabre Pant ReviewedFirst up in my Hard vs. Soft Battle Royale is the Arcteryx Sabre Pant. It is as Hard as it gets! Well that’s not exactly true because Arcteryx makes their SV (severe) line of garments, and this one is not in it. 3 lines in and I already have made my review seem superfluous. Just know they are a hardshell.

Shells. Modified from original work: size matters by Martina Rathgen http://www.flickr.com/photos/riviera2008/
