Insane lines ensue. I was checking out the skiers and they are going on ungodly steep lines. The nice thing about this sidecountry action is that seems totally doable. Like the guy said, it's a 20 minute hike from the top of the chair lift. That's considerably less investment than a heli-skiing adventure. Food for thought, not that I'm letting go of my dream to go heli-skiing. Either way, this video will make you dream.

-Juan

---

Origins of Freestyle Skiing

Scattered Flurries

That’s It That’s All: Snowboarding

The Backstore

snowboard

That's All

That's It

Video

Hot diggity! I really appreciated its carefreeness. You could even say recklesness. Some of the skiers are just going hog-wild down that hill. I liked the spirit of everything, how it was focused on fun.

I did enjoy the Polar Explorers version. It reminded me of the arduous challenges they face. One day freezing is one thing, but what about every day, all day cold. Go to bed in the cold, wake up in the cold. Cold, cold, cold. I also appreciated them complaining. I'm used to seeing the epic side of things, it's nice to see the more quotidian aspects too.

Thank you Sierra Designs for sharing this.

-Juan

---

More articles you might like:

Vertical Sailing

Super Deep Powder

Icebreaker Ski Flying

What’s New?

Icebreaker

Merino

Video

Kind of makes you want to go skiiing and BASE jumping!

Woo! These flying-person videos always get me going. Well, I must say that it was first the backcountry skiing that revved me up. I've really got to get my backcountry on. What better way to have fun while getting fit as a fiddle? But I've got to get real comfortable with that before I try the second part. Wow, that would really be conquering my limits. I've jumped out of a plane and it was incredible. Although I must admit the moments before were terrifying. I figure the BASE jumping would be more of a rush since you're closer to the ground, for more effect.

Anyways, good on Icebreaker and its premium wool for sponsoring this.

What did you think of the video?

-Juan Altitude

When’s the Last Time You Asked Yourself Why?

Events

gear

outdoor

Video

Why? I liked the reflections in it. Taking the time to think about why we do things. I often find that what's important is not to find the goodreason that you do something, the one true reason, but rather just to take the time to reflect on why you do things. Perhaps find out a new reason, something new about yourself.
