Remember last winter when you had a nice jacket, but you were cold? Say hello to the answer to your coldest prayers. Both The North Face Arctic Parka and Nobis Medideth, with their full length and gracious down will have you looking good and staying warm. But that doesn’t mean they are exactly alike. That’s why I wrote this article, to help you choose.
As I’m fond of saying the best choices are when you can’t go wrong. That’s certainly the case with the Arctic Parka and Merideth. Whichever one you choose, you’ll be happy since they are primed and ready to go for the coldest urban colds all the while keeping you looking sharp.
Let’s start with their similarities. First of all they’ve got you covered with their long length. Second, they both surround you with cuddly down, while avoiding the Michelin Man effect. Good job designers! Third, they are windproof and waterproof/breathable, meaning you’ll feel like you’re in a cocoon of cuddly love on even in the most blustery of days. Fourth, and it’s only fair to let you know that I’ve got a few more shared features, they both have insulated hoods with detachable trim.
Fifth, they both have two way front zippers. This can be useful when you need extra mobility or also for releasing some excess heat all the while being protected from precipitation. Sixthly, they both have elastic cuffs to keep the cold wind out. Seventhly, and finally since I'm not feeling to confident about the properness of adding -thly to such large numbers, they both have five pockets. Four on the outside and one on the inside. As you can see, the Nobis and The North Face are both ready for winter. Beyond those similarities, lie a few differences. Here are some key elements.
In terms of appearance, they do appear to be pretty similar. Notice however, the slight length difference and the pockets on the Arctic Parka being hidden. Also, the interior cuffs on the Nobis are black whereas the Arctic Parka's cuffs are the same colour as the jacket.
I myself prefer the contrasting cuffs on the Nobis, yet I'm partial to the hidden pockets of The North Face. We all have our preferences, what are yours?
